Safety System Process
Initial Risk Assessment
- Conduct visual and instrument-based inspection of mechanical components.
- Review control systems and guarding mechanisms.
- Identify hazards and access issues (e.g., emergency gate access, operator box placement).
Define Scope
- Clarify the future use of the machine.
- Gather input from operations, maintenance, and safety teams.
- Engage engineering and vendor partners.
Design and Engineering
- 3D Scan of equipment & area
- Develop a safety upgrade plan including mechanical and control system improvements.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and ANSI standards.
- Validate design using external safety models.
Procurement and Prework
- Order necessary parts (e.g., PLCs, safety modules) early.
- Coordinate with suppliers for lead times and manuals.
- Begin prework during scheduled downtime.
Installation and Commissioning
- Schedule installation during planned outages.
